Charlie Barnett, MD, Founder, President & CEO

Dr. Barnett is the founder of NanoDetection Technology and has 27 years of medical experience, including numerous clinical drug trials. Prior to NanoDetection Technology, Dr. Barnett helped start several companies, including one that marketed medical office management software that he developed. Dr. Barnett holds one medical device patent and three copyrights for medical practice technology. His experience provides exceptional insight into diagnostic and detection technology.

Ashan Perera, Research Development Supervisor

Mr. Perera has a B.S. in Microbiology and completed his senior thesis work at the University of Tennessee with Nanodetection. He has developed numerous panel assays including BVD, E.coli, and Salmonella. Mr. Perera's contribution to Nanodetection has been crucial in establishing diagnostic standards for sample preparation and analysis.

Rob Knudson, Systems Engineer

Mr. Knudson has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and he was responsible for much of the embedded development for the clinical detector. Prior to NDT, Mr. Knudson worked at Sirit Incorporated where he co-developed an integrated RFID payment system. He holds two patents of which he is the lead inventor, and has been a valuable resource for the continuing development of the bioreader.

Vig Sherrill

Mr. Sherrill brings over 20 years of experience in managing, designing and developing ASIC chips. Prior to NDT, Mr. Sherrill founded and sold ASIC International to Flextronics Corporation, where he subsequently led 120 FPGA and ASIC Design Engineers worldwide for Flextronics Corporation. Mr. Sherrill holds numerous patents in Digital Signal Processing and Systems Development, including several from tenure at David Sarnoff Research Laboratories.

Tuan Vo-Dinh, Ph.D., Inventor and Scientific Advisory Board Member

Dr. Vo-Dinh is a world-renowned spectroscopist and is currently the Director of the Fitzpatric Institute for Photonics at Duke University. While Group Leader and Director of the Center for Advanced Biomedical Photonics at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Dr. Vo-Dinh invented NanoDetection Technology's patented and ‘R&D 100 Award’ winning biosensor detection technology. Dr. Vo-Dinh has received numerous accolades including seven ‘R&D 100 Awards’ and holds 26 U.S. patents, of which five have been licensed for commercial development.

Steve Oliver, Ph.D., Scientific Advisory Board Member

Dr. Oliver is currently Professor, Department of Animal Science, The University of Tennessee, and Co-Director of UT’s Food Safety Center of Excellence. His current research is in controlling/reducing foodborne pathogens in food producing animals. Dr. Oliver is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Foodborne Pathogens & Disease.
